US Labels Pakistan-Backed Group TRF as a Terrorist Organization

In a significant development, the United States has officially designated The Resistance Front (TRF)тАФa Pakistan-backed militant group operating in Jammu and KashmirтАФas a foreign terrorist organization (FTO).

This move, announced by the U.S. Department of State, is aimed at intensifying global pressure against cross-border terrorism. The TRF is widely known to be a proxy outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in South Asia.

ЁЯза Did you know? TRF is widely believed to be a rebranded front of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), an internationally sanctioned terror group involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

According to U.S. officials, TRF has been involved in several violent attacks targeting security forces, civilians, and political figures in Jammu & Kashmir. The group gained attention in recent years for using social media and encrypted communication tools to radicalize and recruit young people in the Kashmir Valley.

The U.S. designation not only freezes any assets TRF might hold under American jurisdiction but also bans all forms of financial or material support from U.S.-based individuals or institutions. This puts TRF on the same list as other globally sanctioned terrorist groups, marking a major diplomatic step toward combating terrorism in South Asia.

Indian officials have long claimed that Pakistan is directly supporting groups like TRF to destabilize the Kashmir region. With this declaration, the international narrative appears to be aligning closer with IndiaтАЩs stance on cross-border militancy.

The designation also sends a strong signal to Islamabad regarding the consequences of harboring or sponsoring extremist networks operating beyond its borders.
